At Xledger, we work hard to create an engaging, fun, and open office environment so that our staff look forward to coming to work each day.
We strongly believe that an excellent office culture leads to staff being happier, more collaborative, and more productive, and we pride ourselves on providing an enviable working environment where staff receive complete support to reach their full potential.
Workforce diversity is extremely important to us, and we strive to recruit the best candidates from a broad range of backgrounds. Our diverse workforce brings a fresh range of ideas and perspectives to the table, enabling us to make creative and innovative business decisions; while building an inclusive working environment that all staff are proud to be part of. We hope that our new internship programme will inspire interns from all walks of life to pursue a career in the tech industry, be that with Xledger or other software companies in the future.
We truly value our staff, so when people join Xledger, the journey starts with a structured induction programme, along with an all-important company lunch to welcome them to the team. During the first few weeks, new starters spend time with everyone in the UK team, as well as the CEOs from our global offices in Norway, Sweden and the US. We welcome candidate recommendations from existing staff and reward them with a ‘thank you’ bonus if the candidate is successful. Likewise, if an Xledger employee makes a personal business referral that goes on to choose Xledger, they too receive a bonus. Our welcoming culture and regular staff socials encourage staff to get to know each other from day one, and our relaxed dress code adds to the relaxed and friendly working environment.
Early careers
We have recently launched our internship programme, inviting talented students to work alongside us to gain invaluable work experience that will equip them with the tools and the knowledge to thrive when leaving college and university for their first job. At Xledger, we believe in people’s potential and know that having some experience under your belt fast-tracks young people to a dream job earlier on in their career.
Career Development
We take professional development very seriously and hold quarterly reviews, alongside annual reviews, between staff and their line managers to celebrate achievements, track progress and develop professional development plans. We pay for each staff member’s Udemy e-learning account, giving them access to thousands of professional lectures and tutorials, which can be utilised both independently and during our group ‘lunch and learn’ weekday pizza sessions. Using the performance development tool 15Five, managers receive weekly updates from staff regarding how they are feeling, their weekly achievements while addressing any support they may need. 15Five can also be used by staff to publicly ‘High Five’ colleagues who have gone above and beyond for others, with each month’s winner being awarded a prize during monthly company update meetings.
Wellbeing
As a family-friendly organisation, we recognise that it can at times be difficult to maintain that all-important work-life balance. In 2019 we introduced a flexible working policy, allowing staff to fit work around home commitments and giving people more autonomy over when they work. Furthermore, we gift an extra day’s holiday each year, by closing the office on the afternoons of Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, resulting in a competitive starting holiday allowance of 26 days plus bank holidays. For every two years at Xledger, our staff are gifted an additional day’s holiday, up to five days for 10 years’ service.
We believe that staff health and wellbeing is of paramount importance, so we offer several perks to help staff to stay healthy. Staff have the option to join the company’s health insurance scheme – with families able to be added at competitive rates – meaning they are looked after both at home and in the office. Our cycle to work scheme enables staff to purchase discounted bikes for a greener commute, and our teambuilding fitness and adventure activities encourage staff to be active. We also receive weekly fresh fruit deliveries to the office to facilitate healthy eating.
As well as investing in our staff’s professional development, we invest in ‘the fun stuff’ to regularly bring everyone together as a team. Along with perks such as work anniversary presents, Christmas presents, bi-annual socials and fortnightly ‘Toasty Tuesday’ office breakfasts; Xledger treats its staff to birthday drinks each month, regular lunches out and quarterly team-building social evenings after training days. If staff are working offsite and choose to stay with friends and family, we gift them £50 per night as a ‘thank you’ for their host. Furthermore, as sponsors of Ashton Gate Stadium’s South Stand, we offer hospitality tickets free of charge to all our staff, where they can watch the game and enjoy unlimited use of the stadium’s Executive Lounge.
