Location: Bristol – Hybrid
Role: Full Time
Remuneration: £40,000 – £60,000 (experience depending)

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Consulting Department for an Implementation Consultant with a strong understanding of finance business processes and a passion for applying technology to solve real customer problems. We are looking for someone who thrives in a dynamic, collaborative environment and wants to be part of a friendly and professional team.

As part of the Operations Team, you will work alongside experienced consultants to manage the implementation of Xledger software and ongoing user assistance for a wide range of customers. This is a hands-on, client-facing role, combining finance expertise, system learning, process improvement, configuration, training and problem solving.

We are open to experienced ERP implementation consultants, but strong candidates may come from accounting, finance systems, financial control, finance transformation or business partnering backgrounds. The role would particularly suit someone with Financial Controller-level experience, or someone who has become the person others rely on to improve finance processes, investigate system issues, explain complex finance topics and lead change. Experience in the property, financial services or adjacent sectors would also be highly beneficial.

This role will suit someone who enjoys working independently, learning complex systems deeply, troubleshooting, and representing a considered view to customers. Curiosity, strong finance understanding, independent learning ability and client presence are key traits.

The role offers development opportunities in a fast-growing business and team, either through seniority within the Consulting team, a pathway into the Solutions (presales) team, or a pathway into the Product Management team.

Main Responsibilities

  • Acquiring in-depth knowledge of the Xledger product and maintaining expertise as the product develops.
  • Managing the implementation of Xledger for new customers, from design through configuration, testing, training and go-live support.
  • Supporting live customers with ad-hoc consultancy throughout the lifecycle of their customer journey.
  • Leading finance and business process workshops with customers, including senior finance stakeholders and operational process owners.
  • Understanding client needs, identifying underlying business requirements and translating them into practical Xledger solutions.
  • Using accounting and business process expertise to challenge, advise and support customers through process change.
  • Collaborating with Xledger’s project management team and resource manager to deliver projects on time and on budget.
  • Driving implementation projects to deliver measurable business benefits identified in the pre-sales process.
  • Managing third-party relationships, including customer-side project teams at all levels of seniority.
  • Troubleshooting system, configuration, process and data issues in a structured way, communicating clearly what is known, unknown and being investigated.
  • Reporting to the Consulting Manager or a senior member of the Management Team, including submitting weekly timesheets.
  • Providing customer training, including mentoring new starters and partner consultants as needed.
  • Lead data migration, reconciliation, user acceptance testing and go-live readiness activity.
  • Providing input into development priorities, especially for UK-specific accounting requirements and sector-specific market opportunities.
  • Supporting pre-sales efforts, including solution scoping, demonstrations and input on proposals, particularly where finance or sector expertise adds value.
  • A willingness to travel is essential.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Part-qualified accountant (AAT, ACCA, ICAEW or CIMA).
  • Practical experience in a finance, accounting, finance systems or ERP implementation role.
  • Strong understanding of core finance and business processes.
  • Evidence of improving finance processes, implementing systems, acting as a system super-user, troubleshooting finance system issues, supporting user acceptance testing, managing reporting improvements or contributing to finance transformation.
  • Ability to learn unfamiliar systems independently, investigate issues logically and form practical recommendations.
  • Strong experience communicating with customers and internal stakeholders, including explaining finance or system topics to non-specialists.
  • Full UK driving licence and a willingness to travel.

Desired Qualifications and Experience

  • Fully qualified accountant (AAT, ACCA, ICAEW or CIMA).
  • Financial Controller, Systems Accountant, Finance Systems Analyst, Senior Finance Business Partnering or Finance Transformation experience.
  • Experience implementing ERP systems, either as a consultant or in-house, such as Unit4/Agresso, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, NetSuite, Oracle or similar.
  • Experience acting as an internal ERP super-user, process owner, UAT lead, finance workstream lead or key point of contact for an implementation partner.
  • Experience in property, financial services or adjacent sectors.
  • Practical experience in several of the following areas:
  1. Management and financial accounting
  2. Project accounting, project billing or project management
  3. Multi-currency reporting
  4. Multi-company accounting and consolidation
  5. Purchasing, stock accounting and ordering.
  • Knowledge of broader organisational systems, integrations, reporting tools or data migration activity.
  • Experience supporting pre-sales, solution scoping, product demonstrations, tenders or proposals would be beneficial but is not essential.

Highly Valued Skills

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Fluent written and spoken business English.
  • Flexibility, curiosity and a strong appetite for independent learning.
  • Strong requirements gathering and analysis abilities.
  • Robust IT and technical understanding.
  • Advanced problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Proven ability to transfer knowledge effectively.
  • Solid data migration and reconciliation experience.
  • Commercial awareness, including understanding the link between implementation decisions and customer value.
  • Competence in generative AI tools.

Personal Characteristics

  • Self-motivated with the ability to motivate others.
  • Service-minded, commercially aware and solution-focused.
  • Responsible, reliable and highly organised.
  • Accurate, structured and detail-oriented.
  • Curious and persistent when learning complex systems or investigating unfamiliar issues.
  • Comfortable working independently while knowing when to ask questions or escalate.
  • Confident under pressure and comfortable communicating when something is not yet known.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Comfortable engaging with clients at both technical and senior stakeholder levels.
  • Able to build trust quickly, challenge constructively and remain composed.

Benefits and Terms

  • A central position in a fast-growing and evolving company
  • Full time role.
  • Ability to work from home twice a week.
  • Core hours policy.
  • Health insurance.
  • 26 days holiday, rising by 1 day per 2 years service (up to a maximum of 5 extra days), not including bank holidays.
