Bonded Warehouse
A bonded warehouse is any building or secured area where dutiable goods are manufactured, altered, or kept, but without payment of duty. These warehouses are under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (or a foreign equivalent), which will keep the goods until tariffs have been paid, at which point they may be released into the country.
Types of Bonded Warehouses include, but are not limited to:
-
- Government owed
- Privately owned
- Bonded yards
- Bonded bins
- Duty-free stores
- Abandoned goods
If you want to smuggle in your collection of rare and exotic howling cicadas, there is a better place to do it, as tariffs on winged monstrosities are relatively high.
