The Role

We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Head of Finance to lead the UK finance function at Xledger. This is a pivotal role that combines strategic leadership with hands-on responsibility, ensuring the financial health and operational excellence of the UK business.

You will report directly to the UK CEO, with a dotted reporting line to the Group CFO based in Norway. You’ll also play a key role in the UK leadership team and act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders. We are looking for someone ambitious, interested in, and capable of progressing to becoming a Finance Director within 1-2 years of appointment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Leadership: Lead all financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes for the UK business.
  • Strategic Insight: Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making and drive business performance.
  • People Management: Manage and develop a small but high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Payroll Oversight: Oversee accurate and timely payroll processing, ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations and internal controls.
  • HMRC Compliance: Ensure full compliance with UK tax regulations, including VAT, PAYE, and corporation tax filings.
  • Year-End and Group Reporting: Manage the UK year-end process in line with Group timelines and standards, coordinating with Group finance and ensuring smooth integration of reporting requirements.
  • Audit & External Liaison: Act as the main point of contact for external auditors, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of audit requirements and supporting statutory accounts preparation.
  • Reporting & Compliance: Ensure timely and accurate monthly and annual financial reporting in line with UK GAAP and Group standards.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the key finance partner to the UK CEO and wider leadership team, and collaborate effectively with the Group CFO and international finance colleagues.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously improve financial processes and systems to increase efficiency and support scaling of the business.
  • Risk & Governance: Maintain strong internal controls and support risk management activities to ensure the business operates with financial integrity.

Requirements

  • Qualified accountant (CA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Significant (5 years +) post-qualification experience in a senior finance role, ideally in a SaaS, tech or professional services organisations.
  • Proven experience managing and developing a team.
  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to interpret financial data for non-financial stakeholders.
  • Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Experience in an international business is an advantage.
