Reporting and analytics
We’ve automated much of the data entry process in Xledger for you. However, simplicity in recording is not in itself sufficient unless coupled with excellent tools for analyzing data, assessing liquidity and extracting information for decision support. Sophisticated reporting and inquiry capabilities are imperative to reap the full benefit from an ERP/business management system. Xledger presents vital information on real-time dashboards, graphs and KPIs on the homepage, and provides powerful tools for assessing liquidity and analyzing data, including pre-defined and customizable queries and reports. From anywhere in the system, including dashboards, queries and graphs, you can drill down to underlying data plus supporting images and documentation.
Upon initial login, users are presented with a home page tailored to their role in the company. There are also module-centric dashboards throughout the system as well. These dashboards contain pre-defined blocks of information such as P&L (corporate, departmental, or project-based), balance sheet, cash flow forecast, task list, graphs, and fully configurable key performance indicators. With the freedom to configure their dashboards to specific requirements, you can rest assured that your teams will always be fully up-to-date with current and relevant information they can use as a basis for quality decisions.
Inquiries are the most-used method of pulling information from the system. Each inquiry contains several standard and advanced filters that allow the user to specifically define the information they want returned to the screen. Once data is returned, fully manipulate it with the simplicity of drag-and-drop by changing filtering and sorting on the fly and leveraging drill-through to see the same data in pivot tables, charts, and hierarchical subtotals. In essence, slice and dice the data any way you can imagine to gain unheralded insight into your business or domain. As a plus, this information can always be exported to Excel on the fly for further manipulation, presentation, or reporting purposes.
Though there are many standard financial reports available, if the required information cannot be retrieved using the standard inquiries and reports, Xledger allows you to build custom reports within standardized templates so that line managers, project managers and others can easily access the data they need in the desired format in order to make quality decisions.
Drill-Down and Drill-Through
Comprehensive and intuitive drill down and drill through options, from summary information to the underlying transactions and documents, makes reporting powerful and useful. It also provides users with full traceability for audit and control purposes. Drill-down and drill-through both enable users to see data and information in more detail, but do so in different ways.
Drill-down delivers insight into data by digging deeper. At the click of a button, users can dive deeper into multiple layers of data to see more details. For example, on a report that shows expenses by account, users can click on one account to see the details that are summarized there. They can further drill-down all the way to the transaction level to see posting details and linked documentation. Drill-down helps to answer questions such as : Why is one department outperforming another? Why are costs higher from one month to the next? And, which salespersons are driving higher-margin revenue? Drill-down gives insight into the detail that comprises the data being viewed.
Drill-through delivers insight into data by rotating around the data with a 360-degree view. Different from drill-down, it does not direct users to more granular levels of details, but instead lets users see the same data set from different perspectives. For example, on a tabular report of sales by vertical market, users can drill-through to see that same dataset in a pivot chart, on a visual graph, in a heat map, or with subtotaling. Any changes to the filtering of the dataset from one view to another are retained, all at the click of a button and with full drag-and-drop ease. Seeing the data from different angles, in different formats, and through different visualization methods enhances analysis. Drill-through gives insight by illuminating factors both around and behind the numbers.
